Future Stuff

Andy and I talked about careers and grad school and the like over lunch yesterday (mmmm crab melt), and mentioned that one of our friends, a currently disgruntled teacher, had applied for a position at the uni that he would be perfect for.  Andy’s talked about looking for work there when he finishes his B.A. next year, and I’m there for the next year, but I too, would love to get an on-campus position.  I’ve mentioned several times how much I love being on campus, etc etc, and there are the occasional grant-funded positions that pop up in my department up there. (there was one this spring, that I could have gotten withOUT my master’s, I had all the requirements, but my M. Ed will be a good investment, etc etc, and would mean I started at a higher salary than just having a B.S., and all of that, so, yeah, working on campus as a career is a possibility.)  Anyway, entertaining the thought of the three of us being able to like, have lunch together once a week or something? Oh. My. God.  It would be the holy trinity of snarkdom, seriously.  I can’t even think about it too long or I start to get a brain cramp, it would be that cool.  And hell, even if this guy got the job (which would start this academic year) that puts all three of us in a position to bitch over bowls of leafy greens in the union. Way too cool. I have chills. Hee.

Babyish behind the cut:

I updated my ticker to more accurately reflect this cycle.  The Synthroid shaved off several days, and I figure I am one DPO today.  I did OPKs this time, and had positives on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a negative today.  Got in some GOF on Tuesday and today, so, well, we’ll see.

I mentioned on IM, or confessed, rather, that I have this sick habit of looking at baby stuff all the time. I have a built in excuse "ohmyfriendishavingababyandI’mjustlookingforagiftnoreallyHAHAHAHA" but I really can’t help myself from cruising through the baby aisles at Target. Not one bit.  And the one thing that I think about most, consumer-wise, is a stroller.  I know I want a snap-n-go infant seat frame to start with, but then I start to thinking of Stroller:Phase II and get all wound up.  I live in a neighborhood, with sidewalks, but cut through baseball fields and such to get to the pool and parks.  I don’t go to the mall often (but I’ve heard that changes once you need something to do with an infant that is climate-controlled) and I’m not a public transit user.  So I’m leaning towards a jogging stroller, or at least something with air-filled tires, and one that I won’t constantly stub my toes on, and I am sickly in love with the Bumbleride Rocket. So red! So hip! So…. unnecessary at this point in time!  There is also the Jeep Overland stroller, that has some totally geeky features like audio support and speedometer and odometer built in, but it’s UGLY. Not pretty, like Bumbleride!  And I figure I’ll want an umbrella for when I do go to malls and such, as I really have a thing against Travel Systems and their massive use of airspace.  And maybe not a MacLaren, but a sassy Chicco would be nice.  And have I mentioned? I AM NOT PREGNANT. That I know of.

Sigh. Strollers are cool, man.

  1. DEAR GOD, I went to check out that red stroller.
    THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS
    HOLY GULP
I would seriously bring that item up as an, “aww, I saw this cool thing. . . .. ” to your grandmother. . .
It is VERY cool, and RED. .well, Red makes even baby barf look HIP
    lol. . . you’re such a goofus. . that’s why I love you!

  2. Ohh I love my travel system. Of course when we go out we go for HOURS. It is great to have one that lays almost all the way down so a nap is possible and one that has a tray for little snacks (really so that libby can pretend she is gretel and leave cheerio trails). Its great for shopping because the underneath can hold a bunch of bags. (we do have a smaller stroller for quick walks or wandering around in cool little stores)
Then again someone talked me in to buying the minibeast, so apparently I am easily swayed…

  3. One thing to keep in mind about jogging strollers, they are pretty bulky and a little more difficult to manuever since they are made to go straight at fast speeds (you wouldn’t want it suddenly turning on you if you jerk your hand), so that makes them more of a pain to take on outing where you’ll be inside, like stores and what not. We ended up getting a jogging stroller plus a leightweight stroller that you could pretty much collapse and load into the car with one hand. Loved it.
