Contest Photos

The votes have been tallied, and tomorrow I’ll go to the studio to print up my contest entries.  I’ll also talk to the gallery people while I’m there.

For the contest, the entry fee is ten bucks, and there are prizes in each category ($40/$25/$15) so all I need to do to break even is win a third prize in one of the categories. There is a grand prize, Best in Show, for $150. You can enter one color and one B/W for each category, and there are 11 categories.  Here’s what I’m entering:

Flowers: Tinywhite
Experimental: Library Windows (Exp. is for anything that has been manipulated in a way that couldn’t be done using film, and since I have the red flowers….)
Nature: Beetle
Open Miscellaneous: 24. Rock Center (the hand)
Maine: Dad @ Crumple
Special Open: (for people who’ve never won a prize at the fair) Spiderweb (B/W) and Widemouth

There are other categories, too.  I have some Crumple shots that I haven’t uploaded that I might enter for scenic, and my B/W standpipe photo will either go in Maine or Open Misc.   I also have some pics of Amy’s kids that I might ask to show, too, in the Children category.  I also turned tinywhite into a B/W, and I might enter that an and a lily picture in color, but I’ve been thinking about enlarging some of my flower photos in B/W for our bedroom.

I’m also going to be printing up some other stuff, just for me, from NYC and such, and looking to add to the walls in my house.  Upstairs is a blank canvas so far.  (And Brooke, I had the same idea as you did, to have TRU Display and Wall in the same frame. Great minds and all that . . . ) So, yeah. My goal is to at least get one third place prize, to pay for entering the contest.  More than that is gravy, baby.
