C25K Update

Well, as I mentioned, this week kind of sucked.  Monday was freezing rain when I got home, class Tuesday, student teacher talk and IL Pizza Wednesday, Thursday, I was a slackass, but! But!  I did go out on Friday and Sunday.  I did my route, 2 running segments on Friday (with asthma attack and shin splints) and 3 segments today (just the shins, on the third one.)  i have my Enell sports bra, and as Dave said "Wow, they don’t move AT ALL in that thing," and now I wish I had a Belly Bra, because with the boobs retrained, my gut is bouncing. Oh well. That’s the point.

It’s fertility weekend, here, and we’ve added some supplements to the mix.  I have been slacking on any vitamins, because, like Persephone, I was getting discouraged at reaching the bottom of a bottle of prenatals and not finding a baby.  I couldn’t bear to finish a THIRD bottle, so I stopped taking them unless I was having some 2WW guilt over indulging in some sushi or something. Because TOTALLY, veggie sushi (I KNOW) or alaska maki might fuck up a hypothetical unimplanted blastocyst, UNLESS I take a vitamin. Heh.

But, after some research, I changed Dave’s vitamins all around, and mine as well.  Apparently, IVF clinics have a 10% improved success rate when the male takes high doses of vitamins C&E, and selenium, zinc, B6&12, and folic acid help with sperm production.  Amino acids like L-Carnitine and L-Arginine are alsy beneficial.  The only multi I could find with this combo was GNC’s Mega Men.  I added a C&E combo pill, and an iron pill, because he’s needed that forever.  I started with the very hippie sounding Rainbow Light prenatals, which has all the important stuff as well as red raspberry leaf, spiruline, and ginger.  I also added a B-Complex with extra folic acid, and 1000 mg of Flaxseed Oil.  All good stuff, in general, and part of my quest to be healthy, pregnant or not.

My eczema has been bearish; last night I woke up in the middle of the night scratching my arms all to hell.  My body was just CRAWLING with itch, so I woke up and slathered my arms in OTC cortizone and Aquaphor, and put on my elbow socks, AND took a Claritin.  Even then, I had to lay on my arms and breathe deeply to keep from scratching anymore, as my arms were already a bloody mess. It’s awful.

I’ve been wondering, though, if dairy is aggravating it.  For someone who doesn’t drink milk, I get a lot of dairy, and yesterday was super-heavy in dairy.  I had some cheese, I had cereal, twice, and a bowl of frozen yogurt.  I had a Danimals drinking yogurt (it has 25% of daily calcium, and helps get those big horse pills down).  It was a lot more than I usually have, anyway.  So, I’m trying to cut out dairy for a few days.  The only thing I’m going to keep is the Danimals, because it’s not THAT much (3oz) and it gets me some calcium.  I picked up some Rice Dream to try on my cereal in the morning, so we’ll see how that works.

And, if anyone has any advice or experience with dairy triggering eczema, or vitamins helping with fertility, let me know!
