iPod questions

I got the Mini with my mac as part of apromotion, and I’ve been playing around with it.  It’s cool, and I was thinking it might be nice to find a good way to USE it, and one idea was to use it to time a walk through music. I know, it’s certainly not a novel idea, but to have a couple playlists: a 30 minute one, maybe 2 15 minute ones, I could (especially on campus) make sure I got the time if not the distance. Which, the time is what’s most important, right?  So, what would YOU have on a playlist to ensure a brisk walk?

Second, I’m really eh on the headphones. I think I must have shallow ears or something, because in-ear phones never seem like they are going to STAY. My favorite headphones are the ones inside my 360’s earmuffs, because that is just a) great design and b) they aren’t in my ears.  If I’m going to be walking briskly, I’d like to not be screwing with the phones every 3 seconds.

And finally! Holy hell,  I was right. CD13 anda +OPK. Yeehaw!

  1. Ok, I don’t know what happened at Apply w/ those headphones, but they are AWFUL. They won’t stay in my ears at all, not even for a minute, unless I press them in so hard it hurts like hell. I use something like these: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000095SB6/ref=wl_it_dp/002-1561030-2260011?%5Fencoding=UTF8&coliid=I1TIV1TQY96QFO&v=glance&colid=SITG8PGPSM78
They’re awesome, you can run or whatever and they don’t fall out, they’re super-comfy, they come with three sizes of the rubbery bit so littler-eared people can be comfortable, and they even block noise a little on airplanes! There’s a newer version, which I have because i wore out the old ones, but it’s more annoying because it has a short cord and an extension, and…weird and awkward. Plus $15 more expensive. If you really care about having the white cord, Sony does now make a similar version in white, I think. The Apple version is apparently horrible.

  2. Like Kate said Apple do a ear bud version that is meant to be great but for me they are like 40 euro so no way am I forking out for that! I have 3 playlists for excercising 1 half hour another 40 minutes and another 1 hour. Personally I like music like nerd, no doubt, greenday, lenny kravitz and diana ross, as its upbeat enough to keep me plodding along without having that irritating “this is sooo super and rad!!!!” pop feel.

  3. I have what is called “oddly shaped ear canals” which prevent me from wearing most head phones. For sports I like the over the ear ones from sony. They stay in place when running/blading/skating (link below).

I have “moods” programmed in so I have warm up, running, rest/walk, cool down and done. Sort of like those old aerobics instructors used to do (btw, I miss aerobics).

  4. I know a few people who swear by these ear bud headphones, even ones who normally hate ear buds. They’re kind of pricey, though, sadly. I’d like to try them myself and see if they’re as good as people make them out to be.
