I just logged into my old school email, accidentally (both my old school and the uni use FirstClass) and I didn’t have any messages, but I did read the general info thread.  And, AS I PREDICTED waaaaay back when, the new math teacher (not replacingme, they cut my position completely, but replacing the other math teacher) is a man, who has never taught middle school, and has a degree in engineering.  I KNEW that that would happen, and that sex would be important, and it was.  Because guess what, world. middle school is not a little high school. Junior High is.  And junior high is not what’s best for preadolescents.  Even though I’ve cut my ties there, it makes me sad for the kids.  WHo knows, maybe he’s a friggin mastermind of middle schoolers. But I bet not.

Also, I got my prints back from the contest, and I didn’t win anything. Which SUCKS because I am not used to NOT winning shit. I mean, I’m not an athlete or whatever, but I win every scholarship I apply for, I have a 4.0, I am used to success, dammit! But, I’m still glad I took the risk and entered. That’s cool.

To temper that, I’ve been coachin my sister through Picasa.  She has a PC, and I had her download it a while ago, but it wouldn’t work.  She figured "we have a proxy server I think so I need a new server."  Sigh.  Finally, though, one of her more tech savvy friends came out and got it installed, and she emailed me what she thought was a picture, but instead was an invitation to download Picasa, too. It’s Windows only (it seems like iPhoto for mac, basically) so I knew she’d screwed up, but I ALSO knew she was probably sitting in front of her computer right then, so i called her.  I walked her through the email function, and she was freaking. out.  "I SENT A PICTURE! DID YOU GET IT?"  I then walked her through how to set it up so she didn’t have to enter her Hello name and password each time ("Click the box that says "remember my password."  — "Is it under general? WHERE IS IT?" sigh) and she was thrilled. THEN I led her to the editing tabs and she about wet herself. "I CAN MAKE IT BLACK AND WHITE? THIS IS AWESOME!"

My sister and I are so, so, so fucking different.
