Rage Against the Asshat

Alrighty. I know you’re out there. Here’s the plan on dealing with the Asshat.  And by "Asshat," I mean the one who wrote every post except for that one where she had her social worker or english tutor or boyfriend’s probation officer help her with commas and spelling. Because that sure as hell wasn’t the Asshat.  Also, bullshit on the sister story.

Ignore. Completely.

Whatever she says, pretend it was never there. Don’t offer links to dictionary.com, don’t explain hot compresses, don’t answer when she asks how to get her pants back on. Nothing. Not one word.  The Asshat? What Asshat? I didn’t hear anything, did you?

Circle the wagons, girls. The sympathizers can deal with her, but the best solution, I think, is to just stop responding.

Don’t worry, if something deserves snarking upon, I’ll snark here. But on the boards? I don’t believe I’m familiar with the Asshat.

(PS: This is not how I expect newbies to be treated, only established and recognized morons.  We should still be kind and helpful to newbies in general.)

  1. I guess I’m a sympathizer, ’cause the options of either constantly dissing her or the grade 2 silent treatment approach both seem really childish. Not that I really ever reply to her normally, but damn. (I mean, dayum. Heh.)

  2. Yes, but, she’s feeding off of the drama. That’s part of why I find her troll-like. That and the several instances of misaligned facts. . . . the only way to calm her down is to not play her game. I really think there’s something super fishy about her, this isn’t just an “I’m annoyed with the OMM” kind of situation, you know? Too much doesn’t add up for me to believe the whole story is genuine.

  3. I agree completely. The things she is saying certainly don’t add up and I don’t feel that anymore time should be wasted on her.
    And Gretch, SNARK ON!!!

  4. That she has stuck around after all this time (and after being all but blatantly told that she’s not wanted) shows that she’s clearly trying to cast herself as a star/martyr of some kind of weird, self-serving internet drama. It’s highly entertaining, however, especially when her posts suddenly seem to be typed by her College Graduate alter-ego. Though fun to watch, it’s irritating to moderate, and ultimately we’re giving her more credibility and much-craved attention by continuing to talk about it (here or on the boards). I agree: Operation Ignore Her is in process. Gaw dayum!

  5. Yeah. Even I agree, and I’m the one that stuck up for her. The whole other voice apology-post thing (and the semi-coherant e-mail she sent me) makes me think that she’s someone having fun acting like a moron, and that’s not okay.
While I’m still not condoning public humiliation, I’m strangely all for the silent treatment. Sometimes I wonder about my morals. It’s similar to “Well, as long as I’m not the one cheating, it’s fine, really. . .”
